California Scholarship Federation
According to the CSF website, “The California Scholarship Federation, Inc. is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to recognize and encourage academic achievement and community service among middle and high school students in California. There are approximately 1500 chapters in middle school and high schools throughout the state, and each chapter is comprised of students members who meet eligibility requirements. Each chapter is led by a staff adviser.” Here is a link to the CSF website: Click Here.
Here at San Marcos High School, CSF is an opportunity for students to be nominated for scholarships at the state level, and receive a special recognition upon graduation if they have been lifetime members. A lifetime member has been a part of CSF for at least four semesters, and one of those is their senior year. Participating in CSF is another club that students can also add to their college applications.
The CSF application windows open up in October and February each year. The windows are announced in the bulletin and over the PA at least two weeks before the deadline to submit applications. Ms. Keene, the CSF advisor on campus, hosts an information session in room C3 before each application window as well. The dates for these meetings are below:
October 19, 2019 (At lunch in C3)
February 12, 2020 (At lunch in C3)
The next application deadline is Thursday February 27, 2020.
Students are encouraged to apply for CSF and take the initiative to complete the application whenever they are eligible. Although it is a complicated application, Ms. Keene is happy to help students complete it. Parents are encouraged to direct their students to Ms. Keene in room C3 should they have any questions.
